And it is… I am my own landlord but still a slave to the government if I don’t pay property taxes etc. I guess it’s one step closer to the ‘American dream.’ But isn’t that dead? I’m grateful for what I have but I am tired of stressing about money. Utilities are at least 3x what I expected to pay - how the hell is a sewer bill $100 a month? I’m going to make people start shitting outside. It’ll get the garden ready for next year.
That’s a joke - for now. I do have 4 people living here, so it’s a lot of wastewater going out. My well water is the thing of life, though. It costs nothing (as long as the electricity is running) and is the best-tasting water I’ve had. I missed it when traveling to Denver recently.
I’ve been saying I want to start journaling again - the entire reason the Inkwell idea exists. So instead of saying it, I’m doing it. I don’t know how well I will keep up, but I had some time before I take Zelda (my new Shiba Inu) to the vet for her last booster shot. She is the greatest but can also be the most stubborn. This morning she REFUSED to pee outside because the ground was wet. I tried for 15 minutes and she just kept running back to the door. But she also didn’t go in the house, so if she wants to hold her pee, so be it.
Here is a small photo dump from my Denver trip; I don’t take a lot of photos anymore. The giant pegboard thing caused so much laughter.
